Jozibug Tours provides a new way for guests to explore the city, in one of their trendy compact “Jozibugs”. The Deep In The City Jozibug tour visits entertainment locations, magnificent mansions, dilapidated areas undergoing urban rejuvenation, art galleries and historical, architectural and cultural landmarks for a complete Jozi experience.
Jozibug Tours aims to unveil the creative and urban oases hiding behind Johannesburg's infamous reputation and troubled past. The tour kicks off at 7th Street Melville, a famous entertainment location, for an introduction to guides and the city. The first stop is the opulent Westcliff neighbourhood to view the large mansions, national heritage sites, and climb up the Westcliff stairs for an incredible view of the city.
Braamfontein is next, and guests get to witness Johannesburg’s urban renewal firsthand as they see the once unsafe and rundown district transform. Art galleries, graffiti, and Constitution Hill will be explored while guides give a brief about the city’s history of struggle and ultimate liberation.
During the comprehensive tour, the jozibugs will drive through Park Station precinct, ill-famed Hillbrow, and Ponte Tower where the Jozi skyline is admired. Victoria Yard in Lorentzville is one of the key stops, here urban agriculture, African art and design galleries, and a craft beer brewery add to an already memorable experience. Completely transformed Maboneng Precinct isn't left behind, guests take a brief walk in the art-centric town to engage with street artists and visit a Rastafarian shop.
Other stops in the tour include historic sights such as the Gandhi Square and Carlton Centre as well as the Oriental Precinct in Fordsburg, Brixton, and Sophiatown. The final stop is the Northcliff Ridge, where guests enjoy a 360-degree view of the city and the sand dunes of Soweto. The tour is concluded with a South African meal and lasts up to 4 hours.
