Cape Town Opera returns to the Maynardville stage for the Maynardville Open Air Festival with an enthralling programme of vocal performances and dramatic storytelling.
The evening features opera highlights by Verdi, Mendelssohn, and other composers inspired by Shakespeare's works.
The performances include the Cape Town Opera House Soloists, Judith Neilson Young Artists, Chorus, and Children's Chorus, with a special appearance by internationally acclaimed countertenor Clint van der Linde.
The tradition of Shakespeare in The Park will continue with a production of Shakespeare’s timeless classic, 'The Tempest', under the direction of Sylvaine Strike. The program also includes the soul-stirring melodies of the Cape Town Philharmonic Orchestra, Tour de Tchaikovsky, a Chamber Music Concert, a powerful performance by Cape Town Opera, and a delightful musical experience celebrating the 95th anniversary of one of Musical Theatre's most prolific writers with Sunday in the Park with Sondheim.
