The Cape Town Philharmonic Orchestra (CPO) presents their Summer Symphonies at the City Hall, inviting renowned conductors and soloists to perform works by respected composers.
This third instalment of the series is titled 'If Music took Human Form' and features Philadelphia-born symphonic, operatic, and ballet conductor, Jonathan McPhee, with exceptionally talented violinist, Hyeyoon Park as soloist.
The programme features performances of Nielsen's 'Helios Overture, Op. 17', Elgar's 'Falstaff, Op. 68', and Shostakovich's 'Violin Concerto No. 1 in A minor, Op. 77'. This concert also features a curtain raiser performance by the Cape Town Philharmonic Youth (CPYWE), conducted by Charlene Verster as they perform Otto M Schwarz's 'For the Next Thousand'.
