Event information
The Cape Town Cycle Tour takes cyclists on a 109km journey through some of the most beautiful scenery South Africa has to offer.
From the vibrant start line in the heart of Cape Town, cyclists weave along the stunning Cape Peninsula, with the ocean on one side and towering mountains on the other.
The route takes cyclists past the Cape Town Castle, through Nelson Mandela Boulevard, past UCT and Newlands Forest and up the steep Wynberg Hill into Simonstown. Then, the cyclists drag up to Smitswinkel and the entrance to the Cape Point Nature Reserve, traverse through Scarborough and Misty Cliffs, and take on Fishhoek going into the Chapman’s Peak/Suikerbossie double-feature.
The ride ends with a journey through Bakoven, Camp’s Bay, Clifton and Sea Point. The cycling tour also offers a 42km route for those looking to take on a bit of a lighter challenge. This newer addition provides the same exhilarating experience of cycling on fully closed roads while showcasing the beautiful scenery Cape Town is famous for.
Once the races are over, the cyclists can grab a Coke, Powerade or water, along with their well-earned medals before enjoying all that the Race Village has to offer, including a beer tent and hospitality area.
The Cape Town Cycle Tour is more than just a world-class race - it's also a ride with purpose. Each year, the event channels the passion of cyclists into meaningful charitable contributions, supporting a variety of local causes and uplifting communities across the region.
