Baboon Watch Western Cape (WC) presents a stand-up comedy fundraising event featuring generational comedic talent, Rob van Vuuren, and friends. The event is an opportunity to offer much needed aid to Baboon Watch WC's animal welfare and humanitarian efforts.
At the heart of the beautiful Constantia region in Cape Town, the CT2 Troop of baboons has faced unprecedented challenges in recent times. With the withdrawal of rangers by the City of Cape Town in April 2022, these baboons have been left to navigate this environment on their own, resulting in conflicts with residents and endangering both human and primate lives.
In response to this crisis, a dedicated team of volunteers from Baboon Watch WC and Baboon Matters have employed six baboon monitors who work tirelessly to redirect the troop to safe areas, away from traffic and potential harm to themselves as well as the human lives they might encounter along the way.
Baboon Matters and Baboon Watch WC raise money via donations and various fundraising efforts to cover the monthly expenses, and sustaining this critical effort requires ongoing support. In exchange for the opportunity to be roared into laughter by incredible local comedy acts, attendees to the stand-up evening also get to contribute to an immense cause.
