Marc Lottering’s latest musical comedy Aunty Merle-Things Get Real comes to Emperors Palace.
Following hot on the stilettos of the smash hit Aunty Merle -It's a Girl, this sequel takes place two years later. Aunty Merle has survived COVID-19 and has just about navigated her way around load shedding. But things are about to get real.
Her husband Dennis has been keeping a secret from her. So secretive has Dennis been, that it affected his health. His doctor advises him to come clean. Merle’s world is about to be shaken. Her spirits may sink even lower than her sunken lounge.
Directed by Lara Foot and produced by Anwar Mc Kay, the role of Aunty Merle is played by Marc Lottering and supported by a stellar ensemble including Royston Stoffels, Loukmaan Adams, Jawaahier Petersen and Carmen Maarman. They are accompanied by a six-piece band led by musical director, Trevino Isaacs with choreography by Grant van Ster. The show debuted in Cape Town to critical acclaim and received 6 Fleur Du Cap award nominations.
