Event information
'Where Wild Things Grow' is a specially selected exhibition featuring the fynbos- and floral-inspired works of Joanna Lee Miller and Caryn McArthy.
For only two weekends of the year, Wildekrans Country House opens its gardens to the public as part of the Elgin Open Gardens event, in aid of charity. In line with this appreciation for natural beauty, the exhibition transforms the time-worn Wildekrans barn into a whimsical world of floral fantasy. Expect an abundance of fresh flowers set against walls the colour of a magician's cape.
As part of its annual tradition, Wildekrans selects younger artists to exhibit on the estate during the garden show. This year, Miller and McArthy's works take centre-stage against a backdrop of wild and magical greenery.
Joanna Lee Miller paints expressive landscapes and people to explore how connections to nature can deepen understandings of the self. She paints exclusively in oils, and paints 'en plein air' - sitting outside as she works.
Caryn McArthy has a background in floristry and magazine design. Her oil paintings express her love of flowers, cultivated through years of experience being surrounded by fragrant blooms and foliage.
The Country House gardens and art exhibition are open to everybody for walk-in visits. Country-inspired refreshments are on sale. Overnight stays are also available to book privately. Walkabout tours can be reserved via email.
