The Agulhas Wine Triangle Festival takes place on 19 November, showcasing the finest wines from the region. This years’ festival promises a vibrant and fun filled day out for the whole family, hosted at Lomond wine estate near Gansbaai.
The wine brands from South Africa’s youngest wine region pour their wines in a relaxed setting, with breathtaking views across the wild and wooly landscape. The wines from the Agulhas Wine Triangle are influenced by their proximity to the chilly and wild Atlantic and Indian Oceans that meet at the point that gives the region its name. The tempering, cooling winds that blow across the low, rugged hills of the Agulhas Plain, and the ancient soils with their unique characteristics, create growing conditions for vineyards that are unlike any other South African wine region. They truly are wines for explorers.
The festival includes a wine tasting area where the winemakers and public can interact, live music, diverse food offerings, and cheese and charcuterie platters designed to complement the complex and intriguing flavorful wines of the region. In addition to this, winemakers from the Agulhas Wine Triangle present a blending masterclass where guests can learn how a cool climate red blend is made. The festival kick offs with an interactive 5km vineyard walk, where wines are poured at various stations amongst Lomond’s vineyards. The Wine Shop allows for visitors to purchase wines at festival offer prices.
A small, supervised children’s play area is provided.
