Peter Martens leads an ensemble of Cape cellists, including the young Korean cellist Gunwoo Park, who won the 1st prize at the International Cello Competition in Italy.
The other performers are Chris Njapha, Dane Coetzee, Rosamund Ender, Matthias Ender, Edward McLean, and Ashlin Grobbelaar. In addition, Cape Town soprano Frances van Vuuren performs a solo in Villa-Lobos’ fifth work from the popular 'Bachianas Brasileiras'.
This concert is part of a series of concerts that will be recorded for www.artmusic.tv and broadcast by RSG. The concept is by Willem Vogel and Peter Martens.
